!st Graduation ceremony At LCU Ground on 28th Feb 2021
It was all Joy at Lutheran Theological College Uganda -Magamaga in Mayuge district on Sunday 28th February 2021 during the College’s 1st Graduation ceremony where 20 grandaunts graduated with diplomas in Theology after completing four years of training.
Lutheran Theology College Uganda is one of the initiatives of the Lutheran Church of Uganda.
Presiding over the ceremony, the State Minister for Karamoja Affairs Moses Kizige cautioned graduates against backsliding but rather to diligently serve their Lord and savior.
The minster also challenged church leaders who lack papers to go back to school in order to preach well.
“The modern Church has grown to have many distinctive differences from the churches of scripture and upon close observation, we find that leaders in their churches have not been spiritually vetted and therefore are not fit for leadership”, Mr Kizige said.
The National presiding Bishop of the Lutheran Church of Uganda the Right Rt. Rev. Charles Isabirye Bameka emphasized a need for religious leaders to study theology so as to be able serve in public ministry.
He also warned the graduates and church leaders against causing division, hatred and disunity among bodies of Christ, saying leaders should instead closely watch their conduct, embrace true values of teamwork and try as much as possible to involve others in the service of God.
“I Challenge you to use your God given gifts to transform the lives of the communities. Don’t be confortable where you are and always strive to be more mature in faith and embrace changes meant to transform the church.” He said.
He also disclosed that plans are underway to develop the college into a university.
Rev. Raymond Kaija, the Dean of Mid-Western Deanery and Lecturer at the same college also underscored the importance of a church leaders to attain education.
Speaking to Journalists after graduating, the graduates who include Waiswa William Mwaavu Ronald who could not hold their joy were thankful to God whom they say enabled them to succeed in their studies.
Among other guest present included; Jinja RCC Maj. Matovu David, a tried Politician and academician Dr. Frank Nabwiso, Head of Laity in the Lutheran Church of Uganda Mr. Fred Magezi, the National synod Coordinator Rev. James Okello Odoo, Bishop Samuel Lubogo of the International Communion of the Charismatic Episcopal Church and a team of partners from USA led by Pastor Tim Radkey and Steven Maxwell.
